Julia Goodman

JuliaGoodmanBrought up in a house with too many instruments to count, and where quiet-time was rare, naturally music was going to be a part of me. Currently located in Santa Cruz, CA, the beach is a priority and the ocean is my playground. Growing up on the central coast, I spent the majority of my evenings at drum circles and jam sessions on the beach with my parents and their friends. This is where I was first introduced to reggae music and the attitude that came along with it. Following my discovery of the genre I grew up listening to Bob Marley, Steele Pulse, Sublime, and our local band, The Expendables.

My degree in communication studies from California State University, Chico compliments my passion for reggae music as well as my desire to support the current momentum of the scene. My interest to pursue writing as a career was inspired by reggae music and the experiences I have had from concerts and festivals. I thrive on connecting people with their favorite artists, events, and others who share the same love for the music.

To no surprise, I spend my free time listening to music, playing my saxophone or at concert. Other than the music scene, I am involved in the equestrian community, where I specialize in pairing music to choreographed routines on horseback, known as a musical freestyle. If there is a good show in town you can bet to see me there – don’t be shy, come say hi!
