Awesome article about how the Reggae scene has grown in Africa in the last 20-30 years. Inspired by Bob Marley, Don Carlos and others, the kids in the ghettos could relate to the lyrics about overcoming oppression.

There are clips for a documentary about the whole thing.

Very cool... along the same lines, have you ever seen Sierra Leone's Refugee Allstars?
Its a documentary about a musicians forming a group in west africa while in refugee camp in Guinea displaced by civil war in Sierra Leone You can stream it on netflix. Worth checking out. Images are amazing. shows how important and powerful music can be.
