Check out the video on the link above.

The raspy voiced Macy Gray is coming out with a new album of cover songs and she's re-doing an old Sublime favorite, "Smoke Two Joints" which was originally written by The Toyes in 1983

She def has her own twist on the song and also adds a little "I just want to celebrate!"

Pretty cool stuff

She's definitely got a unique voice. Looks to be an interesting album, she's covering a wide range of songs...

1 Maps (Yeah Yeah Yeahs)
2 Wake Up (Arcade Fire)
3 Nothing Else Matters (Metallica)
4 Teenagers (My Chemical Romance)
5 Here Comes the Rain Again (Eurythmics)
6 Creep (Radiohead)
7 Bubbly (Colbie Caillat)
8 Love Lockdown (Kanye West)
9 Two Joints (Sublime)
10 Sleep to Dream (Fiona Apple)
11 Sail (AWOLNATION)
"I really want to try and sway the population to a better way"- Passafire

Thanks for that Johnny...cool find. I really liked it alot....all except for the part in the middle where the samples should be. Shes doing all of them with her mouth. That part sounds pretty lame

hmm, I didn't particularly enjoy it, but it was okay. I do at least appreciate a different take on it, I feel like that song is covered by a billion bands. It's also odd that they list it as a Sublime cover, even though Sublime's is also a cover.

I feel ya. That's why I felt the need to list it as a cover of a cover. But then again, once something becomes a standard, (thinking like back in the jazz dayz when certain tunes became part of many peoples catalogs) then maybe it's a whole nuther thing.

now that i think of it, she was covering Sublime's arrangement re-doing the sample and bringing that energy.

but who knows. maybe that's just going to far down the rabbit hole?

sounds like a pretty interesting set list. Thanks DJ_Carroll for posting that!

I must be getting old and losing my musical hipness... I was laughing at it and wanted to suck out my ear drums with a vacuum cleaner half way through. To each his own.

I kinda agree, except I got that feeling a few seconds in. I found nothing appealing about this whatsoever, and it was actually irritating to sit through.Quite horrible. I can only imagine what her version of an auto-tuned Kanye West track is going to sound like...
