The Italian reggae artist, Alborosie, released his last studio album and vinyl LP Sound The System in the United States on Oct 1st, 2013. The multi-talented artist encompasses a mix of live instruments and analogue recording techniques akin to reggae’s golden age. On his latest album, he produced the majority of the tracks and played 90% of the accompanying instrumental parts. Sound The System followed his two previous acclaimed Greensleeves studio albums – Two Times Revolution and Escape From Babylon. Special guests on Sound the System include Ky-Mani Marley on the Bob Marley classic “Zion Train” and Italian star Nina Zilli on ska-flavored track “Goodbye.” The legendary Abyssinians are also featured on a horn-drenched “Give Thanks.”
With so many friends and a history of guest appearances, its fitting that Alborosie has announced that he will be releasing Alborosie & Friends, a 2 disc album that containing 24 total songs with 20 different guest appearances. These special guest collaborations include songs with: Mykal Rose, Gentleman, David Hinds, I Eye, Horace Anthony, Luciano, Kymani Marley, Gramps Morgan, Zoe, Sizzla, Ranking Joe, Black Uhuru, Spiritual, The Tamlins, Nikki Burt, Jah Cure, Etana, Lady Ann, Busy Signal & Dennis Brown. Kymani Marley appears on 3 different songs while Mykal Rose is featured twice!
Alborosie & Friends pairs the multi-talented musician/producer with some of reggae’s greatest voices, celebrating a range of classic hits and developing talents. The 2 CD set is released in the US on June 24 with the single disc vinyl LP to follow via Greensleeves (VP Records).
