Recently, the legendary American ice cream company, Ben & Jerry’s, introduced a new variety named ‘Satisfy My Bowl.’ Filled with all sorts of goodness, it’s the new ice cream concoction you’ll want, but probably can’t have.
For decades, Ben & Jerry’s has been mixing music and ice cream, working with musicians who share their values to create edible tribute pints as a way to help fund social projects. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Legend; the Greatest Hits of Bob Marley, Ben & Jerry’s, in partnership with the 1Love Foundation, has created new, special-edition ice cream flavor in the spirit of the infamous album. A truly sweet way to honor the legend, aptly labeled ‘Satisfy my Bowl,’ the tasty tribute is described as “a blend of banana ice cream beats, a mashup of caramel and cookie swirls, and a chorus of chocolatey peace signs.”
For this release, the socially-conscious ice cream company wanted to: “pay tribute to a man who dedicated his life to bringing people together through music.” While busy in the kitchen developing the new flavor, Ben & Jerry’s turn to their fans to name the new flavor in an online competition. In the end, Camilla Bishop’s name won, placing Camilla in the Ben & Jerry’s flavour hall of fame! Also, Camilla’s name will appear on every tub and the lucky winner will also receive a year’s supply of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream!
To make this project even sweeter, proceeds from this special-edition flavor will help fund the 1Love Foundation and Partners for Youth Empowerment to empower young people in Jamaica, continuing Bob Marley’s legacy of using music to change the world.
Here’s the bitter part, this flavor is not available for sale in the United States! This October, the new flavor is set to be launched in the UK at The Legend Session – An event where emerging British musicians will be invited to submit their original music for a chance to play their own unique versions of Bob Marley’s Legend tracks, live, on stage. So far, ‘Satisfy My Bowl’ will be available across the UK, the Netherlands, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway.
However, music and ice cream fanatics are now able to help change the flavors limited distribution. Recently, a fan has begun an online petition, calling on the American-ice cream loving public to “Bring Ben & Jerry’s ‘Satisfy My Bowl’ Bob Marley flavor to America!”

In Addition to the new flavor, Ben & Jerry’s is also sponsoring a music video for the Bob Marley track “One Love.” Crowd-Sourced from Tongal, the leading platform for creative content development, this project not only celebrates the record’s anniversary, but also the spirit of togetherness that has been inspired by Marley’s music for the last half century. Originally released in 1977, when music videos had yet to enter mainstream culture, this “One Love” project offers international filmmakers a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a new visual identity for the track.
All-in-all, a total of $15,000 in prizes will be awarded with the winning video awarded a grand prize of $9,000 plus a year’s supply of Ben & Jerry’s! Be sure to keep an eye out for the release of that video, coming soon
