The internationally acclaimed Bermudan Dance Hall sensation known as Collie Buddz, has for years, been uniting like-minded fans at vibrant shows all over the world. Now, following the release of a new single, Collie Buddz is set to bring his melodic prescription to fans across the US.
Bouncing onto the scene in 2007, Collie Buddz, elated that the herb has finally come around, fiercely spread a sound surrounding his love of marijuana. His hit song questioned legalization of the plant, and criticized other related social issues.
Promising a new album in 2015, as he continues to work on new material that furthers these messages, Collie Buddz has recently released his newest single. Titled “Prescription” the track was recorded down in Miami, Florida at Inner Circle’s infamous Circle House Studios. Written in collaboration with Ashante Reid the single was produced by Supa Dups, the oversight on several of Collie Buddz past hits.
A true ganja anthem, “Prescription” could easily be at the forefront of the modern medicinal marijuana movement. The track acknowledges the medical industry’s pharmaceutical culture, expressing the desire that this alternative medicine will one day be included. Blatantly stating the point in the chorus, “I just wanna walk into a dispensary to get my medicine…” Collie Buddz, as done in 2007’s “Come Around,” layers throughout the verses lyrics denouncing prohibition, cocaine and pills. Like his past hits, this track has a big sound, one in which the artist has planned his next tour around. After opening his 2015 tour schedule with the Live Life European Tour, following a month long break from the road, Collie Buddz will be giving cities in Colorado, California, and Florida a heavy hit of the newly announced Prescription Tour!
Made up of 13 dates, the tour is broken into several legs. Properly kicking off the tour the weekend of the 4/20 holiday, Collie Buddz will play three nights across Colorado. Basing the run around spending April 20th in Denver playing a slot at the 420 In The Streets event, Collie Buddz will also play 2 headlining shows on the 19th and 21st with The Movement as support.
The Tour picks back up May 14th at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, California before hitting the Blaze’N Glory Festival in San Bernardino. From there, along with The Expanders playing support, Collie Buddz works his way up north to Monterey, returning to play the California Roots Music and Arts Festival.
Finally the Prescription Tour will spend the last weekend of May in Florida, playing a 4-night run with the state’s own up and coming Reggae-Rock band, Resinated. Hopefully Collie Buddz will spend time afterwards in Miami, working on that highly anticipated new record.
This summer, Collie Buddz will keep on dosing out the music with sets at festivals in the US and abroad. Starting in June, the band plays at the Wakarusa Festival in Ozark, Arkansas, then turning right around, flying down to Bogota, Colombia for a spot at the Jamming Festival. In the beginning of July, Collie Buddz will head to London to play the Wireless Festival, then ending the month and current tour-calendar in Piercy, CA at Reggae On The River.
