Widely regarded as a long-time hero and leader of blues and acoustic rock, Garrett Dutton, more commonly known as G Love, has officially announced the debut edition of the Cape Cod Roots & Blues Festival.
The one-day festival will take place on September 15 at Nauset Beach in Orleans, MA and will feature several special guests.
G Love remains full steam ahead dating back to the last couple of years. Last July, he released an EP with superg-roup Jamtown, which featured fellow blues enthusiasts Cisco Adler and Donavon Frankenreiter, dropped one of the jammiest, bluesiest holiday albums you’ll hear. We can’t forget to mention as well that he is featured on Slightly Stoopid’s new album Everyday Life, Everyday People with the track “Everyday People.”
As for the festival itself, the supporting artists were hand-picked by G Love himself – he mentioned that the performers have personally resonated with him musically, and that its about “bringing to the stage a musical family that we have been cultivating for 25 years strong.” Supporting artists and performers will include a solo acoustic set from Citizen Cope, Ron Artis II and The Truth, and Ripe.
This is much more than just another quick run-of-the-mill festival. In addition to the music, good eats and “cold beverages” (nailed it), attendees will have a chance to enjoy the nearby 10-mile stretch of beach where they can take full advantage of swimming, fishing, and surfing.
This event will greatly benefit local non-profit organization Friends of Nauset Beach. Their mission is to “preserve the natural habitat, wildlife, and fauna of the Outer Cape” – which was curated by McNamara of Hog Island Beer Co. who will also be providing an exclusive beer garden for the day. G Love & Special Sauce have been hitting the road already this summer for their “Beachside Blues” Tour. These shows have included special guests The Ries Brothers, who also toured earlier in the year with G Love. The tour itself began in May and will continue through the end of July. Afterwards, G Love has another full slate ahead in the Fall while hitting France, The Netherlands and London, in addition to the Rock, Reggae, Relief and Sear. Hear. Now Festival.
