Hor!zen, Florida’s underground reggae-rock-hip-hop outfit, is prepared to release their latest studio effort. Now in the final stages of production, the band has announced the details and release date for their long awaited Eviction Notice EP.
After several years of working out new material live on the road, Hor!zen took their time to develop a set of songs fans are sure to love. This EP is the collection of five favorites fans have been introduced to recently during the band’s live sets.
Following their 2009 release Bottom Out EP, Hor!zen’s Eviction Notice EP is the record fans have been waiting for, nearly four years in the making. The delay has not been for lack of effort. Over the past three years Hor!zen has been hard at work, not only performing live and working on new tracks, but raising families as well. The crew closed out 2011 in NYC, working on material for the EP with the talented James ‘J-wiz’ Wisner and Angela Hunte-Wisner.
Originally a self-managed three piece, the group has added saxophonist Michael Ross Cunningham to broaden the sound. They recently signing with Florida’s Alpha Lion Music and Management, working with up-and-coming engineer-producers David Whitmore and Adam Blair Sliger of Sunray Recording Studio for the recording and release of the Eviction Notice EP.
When describing their most recent recording sessions, Hor!zen explained to The Pier how quick the recording process was. In order to have a complete final cut ready for their fans in a timely manner, members of Hor!zen re-recorded their parts for the EP basically in one take. Front man Zech Wolfgramm explained, “It was quick, but not rushed…We have been playing these tracks live for a while now, there are no excuses to mess up.” Drummer, Nash Wolfgramm, recorded all five of the drum tracks in an hour, while the other members knocked out all the vocals, bass lines, guitar and saxophone tracks in just a few days.
The EP is currently being mastered by J-wiz (Slightly Stoopid) and is scheduled to drop digitally, and in physical form, November 21st, at a big hometown show with The Supervillains. In support of the new EP, Hor!zen has plans to tour the region, playing CD release shows in several of Florida’s major markets. The upcoming sets are said to showcase the band’s fresh sound, laying into the new EP as well as updated older favorites, and a few unreleased tracks cut from the EP like “Warning,” “Gettin’ Paid,” and ”Chasin’ Papers.” Be sure to check out the ‘dirty south dub rock’ of Orlando, Florida’s Hor!zen!
