“Cease Fire” Background:
On November 13th, 2012, Prezident Brown released his latest album I Sound Is From Creation via Tad Records. This is Prezident Brown’s 9th studio album and contains 14 unique, authentic roots tracks.

“I recorded this album over a two-year period. The whole album was recorded in Jamaica.” explains Brown. “All of it was recorded at Axx Recording Studios in Port Antonio, Jamaica. Working on the album for production, my friend who owns Axx Studio, Devon Bradshaw was very influential on this record. We had a number of many legendary Jamaican musicians who have performed with Bob Marley, The Wailers and Ziggy Marley.”

In regards to the song “Cease Fire”, you’ll notice a more traditional Jamaican riddim. When asked about the song, here’s what Prezident Brown had to say..
“There are some tracks on the album that have old, classic Jamaican riddims, like one called ‘Cease Fire’. That riddim is called M-16. It is a famous dancehall song. It is the riddim that I canted on for many years. I am very familiar with that riddim. I just compliment the song with the collaborations and creativity to make it my sound. Overall, it is I sound, you know? I Sound Is From Creation.”

Prezident Brown Background
Prezident Brown (Fitz Cotterell) was born in the hills of Clarendon, Jamaica. His mother called him Junior Ranking because he would grab the microphone and chant at schoolyard and country dances. He was first known as Slim Brown because of his resemblance to and similar DJ style of his mentor, U Brown. The most formative influence on Prezident Brown was producer and sound system operator Jack Ruby. Ruby saw something special in young Slim Brown; he took Slim Brown under his wing, re-named him Prezident Brown and appointed him resident M.C. of his Hi-Power Sound System, traveling worldwide.

In reference to the new album, on his facebook page, Fitz Cotterell aka Prezident Brown states “We refer to an individual as a person. The word “Person” comes from the latin word ‘Personare’. ‘Sonare’ means sounding. Personare therefore means sounding through. Everyone is a sound, a sound is optionally changeable, and is harmonious or disharmonious.’I Sound Is From Creation’, ‘I Sound Rock The Nation’, ‘I Sound make The World Go Round’, ‘I Sound Is Harmonious’, One Love.”
