Singer/songwriter/pro surfer Donavon Frankenreiter has officially announced the release of his new album “Start Livin’” on May 29th of this year. The 9-track album was actually co-produced by Frankenreiter himself alongside Matt Grundy, his longtime bassist, and Adam Ableman. The Hawaii-based musician admits that this album was somewhat experimental, using instruments far out of the ordinary like pots, pans, bells, Zippo lighters, and even beans and salts in a can.
When asked about the new album, Frankenreiter said, “My new album is called ‘Start Livin’, it’s about living in the moment and taking advantage of what you have today and not waiting till tomorrow.”
To kick everything off, Frankenreiter will be heading over to Japan for two weeks in mid May to promote the album as well as play a few shows. During the two-week trip, he will also be headlining the Greenroom Festival in Yokohama. For those that don’t already know, the 2012 lineup includes big names like Slightly Stoopid, The Drums, and Lotus.
The string of shows continues back in the U.S. with a FREE event in Virginia Beach for the Wounded Warriors Foundation. This is also the only show on the East Coast before he moves on to Arizona and California for the remainder of the tour. If your on the East Coast, don’t miss your chance to see Donavon Frankenreiter…for FREE!
The exotic instrument choice of instruments allows for a unique sound to develop with “Start Livin’,” stringing together the vibes of each song to create a great overall release. Remember, May 29th, “Start Livin’” drops. So don’t miss it!

Donavon Frankenreiter “A.I” Video
The song was written in memoriam of professional surfer and friend of Frankenreiter, Andy Irons who passed away in November of 2010. The song was described as a tearful tribute to his friend, “I’d never been that close to someone who passed away before. The song’s about me telling Andy I just wish I could see him one more time,” said Frankenreiter.
