San Jose group The Holdup have finally announced the drop of their long awaited follow up to Still Gold, titled Consequence. The official release date of the album is May 18th, but those who cannot wait there is more good news. The track “My Weekend” is available for FREE stream below. This will be The Holdup’s 4th album since their formation in early 2008 and so far the band thinks it may be some of their best work to date.
The Holdup told The Pier, “Consequence will be our senior album, we have grown a lot in the last 3 years and so has our fans. Our music has always consistently changed to keep our sound fresh, its easy to get sucked into one style and sound, that’s is something we always wanted to avoid.”
The group continued to tell that ”Our goal has always been to release cutting edge music, do things different, our way. With over 55 tracks recorded and released we feel confident that any music lover can find something to relate in our music. “Consequence” will be fresh but still have that Holdup sound, heavy hip-hop influence with catchy hooks. This album is some of our best work & we feel our fans will agree.”
The 16-track release seeks to provide something for fans of all kinds of music, fitting into no one particular genre. Several songs also include guest appearances by musician James Melo.
The quartet has a string of upcoming shows promoting the release of Consequence so if you want to get a preview before the much anticipated drop of the album, get tickets before they are gone! Unfortunately the shows are confined to the West Coast so for those East Coast fans, you can stream “My Weekend” below and wait in anticipation for The Holdup’s Consequence, out May 18th!
