San Diego, California’s roots-rock-reggae band Tribal Seeds has switched up their official member lineup. The band, active since 2005, was formed by two brothers, Steven Rene and Tony-Ray Jacobo, but has seen various members come and go over the years, but the heart and soul of Tribal Seeds still remains.
Tribal Seeds’ most recently consisted of Steven Rene Jacobo as the lead singer and guitarist, Tony-Ray Jacobo on keyboards, Tony Navarro on guitar, Victor Navarro on bass, Carlos Verdugo on drums and Joe Rodriguez playing keyboards and percussion.
Now, Tony Navarro or “Dready” as he goes by, is no longer with the band. His guitar and bass talent was exemplified on the song “Vampire” from their third album The Harvest. Also from the third album Navarro contributes some Spanish vocals for the song “Libertad”.
In Tony’s place now is the former keyboardist/percussionist Joe Rodriguez, demonstrating the versatility of the band’s talent. This switch then leaves an open keyboard and back-up vocalist space. Who better to fill the gap than long-time friend E.N Young? Formerly a solo artist and producer known for his conscious lyrics and ability playing the melodica, Young also produced Tribal Seeds’ latest EP, Soundwaves at his own Imperial Sound Recording Studio in Imperial Beach, CA.
Recently, E.N Young spoke to The Pier about the lineup change stating, “When [Tribal Seeds] first came to me about joining the band, they said, ‘We still want you to produce albums. We still want you to push your own songs, your own vibe, your own energy’. They were 100% supporting me from the very beginning. This family energy and positive unity that we have together is absolutely powerful. I am just super blessed to be a part of everything Tribal Seeds is doing.”
In response to a tweet from a fan that asked “Are you now a permanent member of Tribal Seeds?” Young proudly stated, “Yup”. There is no further word as to why the switches occurred, but the fans have had positive expectations for the new crew. Thus far, Tribal Seeds Winter West Coast Tour had Sold Out show dates all throughout Colorado, Utah, Oregon and their home state of California. With lineup change taking place, the fans have still been entertained at each venue, no matter who is playing which instrument. With Tribal Seeds, the mentality revolves around two qualities: love and family!
