    Alborosie – Sound The System
    Release Date: July 01
    Following his third solo album 2 Times Revolution, international reggae star Alborosie has return with new Reggae music in his highly anticipated release Sound The System. Distributed by Greensleeves Records, the new record features a list of guests including, the Abyssinians, Ky-Mani Marley and Italian singer Nina Zilli. First released digitally, the new 16-track album is now available on CD. Alborosie also has Sound The System pressed on vinyl as a 10 track LP, and there has been word of an upcoming DUB WISE version of the Album.

    Originally, Alborosie was a member of the Reggae National Tickets, but decided to go solo in 2001. After going solo he moved to Jamaica where he became a national citizen and has gone on to become extremely respected in the classic reggae sense. He has received international success with tours throughout Europe, Mexico and the United States.Sound the System marks a new landmark in Alborosie’s music career as the 16 track album was written and produced by Alborosie himself. And not only did he write and produce, but he also did almost all of the albums instrumental arrangements.

    Iration – Automatic
    Release Date: July 02
    Three years since their last album, Iration is long overdue for another one. To much of their fan’s delight, on July 2, the band dropped their new album, Automatic. The Reggae-Pop, Rock band has been hard at work getting the album ready for release on their own label 3 Prong Records with distribution through MRI/RED.

    “Automatic” is the band’s third LP, following the astounding success of the past album “Time Bomb”. Although the new album embraces many of the band’s previous sounds, the boys have been pushing their musical boundaries, keeping their style fresh. Collaboration with Cage the Elephant’s guitarist Lincoln Parish brought even more talent to the floor and can be heard on several of the tracks.

    “Automatic is an album that most completely describes our music. It is eclectic in its songs and covers the full range of styles that we pride ourselves in being able to play,” said vocalist and guitarist Micah Pueschel. “Love in all its forms, is and has always fueled our music: love of life and its mysteries, love for your home, love of nature, and of course love between people. Automatic is no different. The title track ‘Automatic’ is a tribute to our fans. We owe them everything.”

    J Boog – Live Up EP
    Release Date: July 02
    California native and Reggae sensation J Boog released his newest single entitled “My Audio”. The song is sweet, relaxing and gives the listener a true Reggae vibe that fans know and love from J Boog. The song speaks easy listening with peaceful lyrics, and a catchy refrain. The characteristics of J Boog’s melodic voice and his music, carry through his latest release, the Live Up EP. Featuring 5 tracks, including his recent single “My Audio” the EP also includes the track “Love Distance Love” featuring reggae singer and songwriter, Alaine.

    Big B – Fools Gold
    Release Date: July 09
    Las Vegas, NV’s Big B’s newest album, Fool’s Gold, was released under Suburban Noize Records on July 9th. Working with Big B on Fool’s Gold was producer Jim Perkins, who has sat behind the boards on the Las Vegas singer/songwriter’s last three albums. Together the duo’s musical chemistry has produced some of Big B’s best material. The songs on are just as contagious as Big B’s thuggish charm as he pours his heart out onto the album.

    The album is rich is musical diversity and chemistry as Big B is joined by a stellar cast of songwriters that includes country superstar Pink, Colt Ford, Slightly Stoopid, The Dirty Heads, as well as members of legendary punk outfits NOFX and Pennywise.

    Krooked Treez- Higher Place
    Release Date: July 09
    Southern California based Reggae Hip-Hop Rock Kingpins Krooked Treez originally formed when, O’Brown, a veteran Belizean/Mexican emcee mentored by West Coast Legend B-Real of Cypress Hill, connected with Belizean Reggae and R&B Singer BZ-Bwai. After picking up a solid live band, whose backgrounds and diverse musical styles create a rich musical backdrop to compliment the vocal styles of O’Brown and BZ-Bwai. Since taking the act on the road, Krooked Treez are now gaining momentum with an ever-growing fan base, as their debut CD Higher Place released on July 9th.

    Drawing its roots from a small town in Belize, Krooked Treez combines Reggae, Rap and Alternative Rock to present a unique vibe. BZ-Bwai simply laces the hooks and melodies, adding an authentic Caribbean vibe to the mix, while O’Brown raps in his distinctive flow, delivering heavy lyrics, which often revolve around struggle, triumph and the beauty of life. While both O’Brown and BZ Bwai support Belize each chance they get, there is no mistaking the fact that this album is a California joint. The summer breeze smooth single “So In Love With California” could be the Golden State’s official summer anthem.

    Jahmen- Food For Ya Brain
    Release Date: July 13
    Gary ‘Dread’ Jackson, best known as drummer for The Movement, has been working non-stop since the on again/off again fiasco of The Movement. Now in the midst of his gigs as a Reggae DJ and working again with the reformed Movement, Jackson has released his first studio album with reggae band Jahmen. Titled Food For Ya Brain, the album includes 7 tracks featuring Chuck Treece and bassist for The Movement, J. Smiles. Released on July 13th, the record is available digitally.

    Cisco Adler – Mahalo EP
    Release Date: July 16
    On July 16th, Cisco Adler released his new Reggae-Hip Hop, acoustic infused EP titled Mahalo via his own Malibu-based indie label, Bananabeat Records. Composed of 6 tracks, the EP features Reeves of Aer & Huey Mack. Simply stated, the vibe of Mahalo is very relaxed and hard to hate. The tracks portray the free spirit thinking that Adler can easily produce.

    Sidereal – On the Rocks
    Release Date: July 16
    Gaining momentum around the Southeast, sharing the stage with many major Reggae-Rock acts, is Florida quartet, Sidereal. Having just come off their first national tour, the band is making big waves around the scene as the group dropped their debut release, titled On the Rocks.

    Originally shooting for a spring release, organizers pushed back the release date to July, allowing for several of the EP’s songs to drop as singles. Finally, fans can now listen to all 7 tracks off On the Rocks as the album is available physically and in digital outlets.

    Wheeland Brothers – Muchos Mahalos
    Release Date: July 23
    The Wheeland Bros, out of Newport Beach in Orange County, CA specialize in beach culture. Self-described as “acoustic beach Rock Reggae”, the SoCal foursome are surfers simply making music for surfers. The collision of Hip-Hop, Reggae, acoustic, and rock caused the formulation of the Wheeland Bros, who spend their time jamming on the beach, surfing, or simply chilling out by the bonfire. Following their debut album, Toast to the Coast, everything the band has worked toward is now culminating in the release of their new album Muchos Mahalos.

    VP Records – Reggae Gold 2013
    Release Date: July 23
    It’s time to go for the gold and check out Reggae Gold 2013. The ultimate reggae music compilation series, Reggae Gold, has been the cornerstone of Reggae music sales in the US mainstream and urban market for the reggae genre for 18 years and counting. Reggae Gold is the most widely recognized brand of reggae music compilations worldwide, presenting an exciting line up of Dancehall, Lover’s Rock and Roots & Culture on two CDs.

    The 2013 edition of VP Record’s Reggae Gold presents the hottest reggae artists and trends with the big hits and crucial crossover tracks from the past year.     Michael Franti – All People
    Release Date: July 30
    One of the most respected, socially active artists in music is Platinum recording artist Michael Franti who returns with his forthcoming eighth studio album. All People will be released on July 30th through Capitol Records.

    The singer, poet and activist has amassed an extensive and rabid fan base, and draws sell-out crowds by virtue of his electrifying live shows. Discussing his new record Franti explains, “All People is about the beauty of diversity, being your authentic self in a crazy world and the infinite power of love.” The first single “I’m Alive (Life Sounds Like),” with its fast-paced & rhythmic anthem, has already made its way into the Top 5 on the AAA chart, marking Franti’s fourth Top 10.

    Through The Roots – Take You There
    Release Date: July 30
    In the last year, between playing shows, the guys have been busy working on new material for the release of their first full-length album. The album is titled, Take You There and is set to be released on July 30th. The band recorded 5 tracks in Studio A of EastWest Recording Studios located in Los Angeles, CA. Studio A has hosted some of the world’s greatest musical icons such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and The Rolling Stones. The remaining tracks were recorded in San Diego out of Big Fish Recording Studios.

    Self-produced with a little help from the people at 3dB Soundworks in LA, the full-length will be 9 tracks, Encompassed in awesome artwork painted live during their set at Cali Roots 2013 by Morphis Art!

    Dumpstaphunk – Dirty Word
    Release Date: July 30
    This month, Dumpstaphunk is spouting the Dirty Word, and that word is Funk. Instantly igniting a dance party at any gig they play, Dumpstaphunk has been in constant demand over the past few years, touring non-stop, with invitations to what seems like every major music festival. Now a band that’s a decade old, the Silverback managed New Orleans Funkster are set to release their second full studio album titled Dirty Word.

    Dumpstaphunk had no trouble finding talented friends to come down to New Orleans’ Fudge Recording Studio and collaborate. Artists such as Ani DiFranco, Art Neville, the Rebirth Brass Band Trombone Shorty, and, Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers all appear throughout the 11 tracks of Dumpstaphunk’s Dirty Word.
