Having just finished the final mix of their upcoming Sixth full-length album, the Mad Caddies are set to hit the road! Starting February 4th, the Santa Barbara Ska-Punk-Reggae-Rock outfit will play a West Coast run, the first of several legs on the band’s 2014 North American Tour.
Formed in 1995, locked down in a barn in 1996, the Mad Caddies released their debut record, Quality Softcore in 1997 on Honest Don’s, a subsidiary record label of Fat Wreck Chords. Over a decade later, after years of solid touring schedules, all while constantly writing and recording, the band decided to take a step back. After the release of their most recent record, 2007’s Keep It Going, and a supportive tour through 2008, in 2009 the Mad Caddies decided to take a sort-of hiatus.
The group never disbanded, but over the next few years, played only small runs throughout various parts of the world, as well as focusing on side projects such as Ellwood and Mariachi El Bronx. In the summer of 2012, after a European tour, the group broke their studio hiatus, then taking all of 2013 to create their forthcoming, new record.
It has been 7 years since the Mad Caddies last released a record. Originally scheduled for a February 4th release date, the still untitled record is now set for a spring release date, rumored to be during the end of April. Recorded at a home-studio in Santa Ynez Valley, the 15 tracks are said to have a recognizable Caddies sound, fusing elements of Punk, Ska, Rock, Dixieland jazz and Reggae. The record was produced independently with the group’s drummer, Todd Rosenberg at the helm, with help some pre-production help from Fat Mike of NOFX.
Slated to tour during the next two years in support of the record, the Mad Caddies have announced that sets on this tour will include many tracks off the upcoming record, as well as a ton of old favorites! Kicking off their tour across the US, the band has planned 10 dates alongside illScarlett, traveling up the west coast through the first half of February. During the first two weeks of April, the band will join Mrs. Skannotto as the tour picks back up in Reno before heading up into Colorado, down into Texas. Finally, through mid-May the bands will head over into the Mid-West and Northeast.
In the summer, the Mad Caddies are said to be appearing at some US festivals as well as scheduling European dates.
