“Unify to Thrive” Background:

After Scott J Schipper was diagnosed with stage-4 colon cancer, he founded Unify to Thrive, a movement to stop cancer! Proceeds raised by Unify To Thrive will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the leader in cancer research. Since the hospital’s inception in 1962, St. Jude has helped bring the childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to nearly 80 percent with not one bill delivered to the families of the patients.

Following Scotts diagnosis of Stage-4 colon cancer, he continued to tour with his band, spreading the message of Unify to Thrive, while also continuing to write & produce music with his band. You can read more about Scott’s story and background in our own article that Blake Taylor wrote by clicking HERE!

Before Scott passed away in December of 2013, Thrive put out a song, with Scott on Sax with the track “Unify to Thrive” that was on the groups latest album, Relentless. According to Thrive Drummer, Kenny Rogers, who wrote the song: “The song is about learning from each other and taking care of one another. It is about how if you put yourself in someone else’s shoes, you’d realize we are all in the struggle together.”

Thrive Background:

Hybrid Reggae/Rock band Thrive is pioneering a unique sound in the ever-growing genre of Reggae/Rock music. In a world where materialistic and careless attitudes prevail, Thrive is carving a positive, new musical niche within multiple musical markets. “We’ve worked hard to maintain our originality” says guitarist/vocalist Aaron Borowitz who founded the group in early 2008. “Each Member has such different taste in music and that translates through our sound”.

The band released their debut album, Grattitude Attitude in 2010 and peaked at #4 on the iTunes Reggae Chart. On May 7, 2013 Thrive released its second and most anticipated album Relentless which debut at number three on iTunes Top Reggae Charts and number six on the Billboard Reggae Charts. The album featured a guest appearance by Eric Rachmany of Rebelution on the single “Just Fine”.

Thrive would build on its success with regional tours, sharing the road & the stage with such artists as SOJA, Iration and Tribal Seeds, along with statewide headlining tours on their own and massive shows with other artists including Rebelution, JBoog, The Green and Katchafire.
