RAC – “Mary Admire”
“Mary Admire” Background:
With RAC releasing their first album in 4 years, I was excited to see what they had been up to with writing new music. I’ve followed the group since 2004 and was a fan of their early releases with 2006’s Lost In Paradise and 2009’s Heavy. Since then, the group has released an EP with In.Hab.I.Tants in 2011, so this self-titled release will be their first full length album in 6 years. The song we were given to give away is called “Mary Admire” and explores the groups heavy reggae side.
Here’s what RAC’s guitarist, Derek Peper, told me regarding the song: “‘Mary Admire’ is a song about that person out there who is searching for belonging. Always looking to appease the crowd for their validation. The progression is that this really leads nowhere and people need to look inside not out to validate themselves. Musically, from a production and writing aspect we created this song completely after the album was set and ready to record. For this song, it just happened one day. We tracked what we thought was just a demo of some new songs, but we ended up wanting to complete this one for the album because we just liked the jam.”

Since 2004, RAC has been playing music in the southwest of Phoenix, AZ. Attracting different crowds and fans with their eclectic style of rock and roll. With a heavy reggae influence, the band pours a chemistry and sound all of its own. Creating nostalgic sounds of a punk-rock adolescence mixed with desert delusion and an appetite for a good time.
