3rd Annual Cali-Roots Carolina Sessions: Postponed!

Some sad news, thanks to the weather, for this weekends 3rd annual California Roots: The Carolina Sessions Festival in its first year at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion in Myrtle Beach, SC. Thunderstorms with 20mph winds will prevent this highly anticipated festival from making it’s South Carolina debut. This festival will now be postponed to the spring…

The 3rd annual California Roots: The Carolina Sessions Festival announced that it has postponed their October 3rd event at Myrtle Beach Pavilion in Myrtle Beach, SC due to inclement weather in the forecast for the region. California Roots Presents’ top priority is to keep their fans, attendees and community safe at all of their events.

“In the interest of safety for our fans, artists, and staff we have decided to postpone California Roots: The Carolina Sessions to a spring 2016 date. Regardless of where Hurricane Joaquin touches down, Myrtle Beach will be significantly effected by rain and high winds, which can severely impact the safety of the festival grounds and environment,” says festival CoProducer Dan Sheehan.

Dan adds, “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause those that are traveling. We are very disappointed that we have had to make the decision to postpone Carolina Sessions. However some things such as weather are simply out of our control. We hope the fans will understand that safety is our main concern. We are already in the process of rescheduling the event. Please bear with us as we work out the details. We always strive to provide the best possible experience, and hope you will enjoy the festival when we return.”

Hurricane Joaquin is a category 3 storm with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph, that is currently affecting the Bahamas with the threat of reaching the U.S. east coast. The storm is continuing to build and is way too unpredictable to chance an outdoor music festival along the east coast shores.

While the circumstances of this can be extremely frustrating for those fans who purchased tickets, travel and got work off months in advance, or the vendors who spent time preparing merchandise and travel, in addition to the bands who may have routed their fall tour around this festival, there is zero blame or fault on the organizers of this event. These things happen and if we know the people behind Cali-Roots as well as we think we do, we can expect them to make up for this inconvenience with another festival we have grown to call home and we look forward to more announcements with details pertaining to the postponement into spring.
