A collection of reggae’s fastest-rising talent will join up at the Chattooga River Resort & Campground in Long Creek, SC on August 19-21, 2016 for the 4th annual Irie Vibes Music Festival. The 3-day grassroots music festival, founded by the members of Sun-Dried Vibes, continues to achieve it’s goal of gathering the best Southeastern and East Coast reggae acts.
This year’s festival features headlining performances by South Carolina’s own TreeHouse!, Fear Nuttin Band out of Massachusetts, Nashville’s Roots of a Rebellion, Tropidelic, Tatanka, Of Good Nature, Oogee Wawa, and of course Sun-Dried Vibes. Irie Vibes Music Festival includes a total of 33 bands across 2 different stages. The music-filled weekend will close out with a bang, as members from a number of the scheduled bands take to the main stage for an “Irie Vibes All-Star Jam.”
Irie Vibes is the ideal festival for catching some East Coast favorites, as well as discovering the scenes most promising up-and-comers. “I had this idea of having a music festival that handpicked the best bands playing reggae music, predominantly in the Southeast, as well as the whole East Coast. Ones that many people probably haven’t heard of…yet,” explains Zach Fowler, singer and guitarist of Sun-Dried Vibes. Fowler plans to jump on stage with as many of the bands on the bill as possible. “The lineup is unreal. Don’t sleep on acts like THE Dubber (my personal mentor and Godfather to Sun-Dried Vibes), Floralorix, Higher Education, PMA, Jo’Shua Odine and Bubba Love.”
Located within the Sumter National Forest, just minutes from South Carolina’s northwest border with Georgia, the Chattooga River Resort & Campground is right in the backyard of a number of communities. It’s an easy trip from South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee, and well worth the drive for reggae fans from farther states. Irie Vibes is a kid-friendly festival, and includes a special Kid Zone with interactive activities. The Irie Vibes crew is encouraging attendees to bring their tents and hammocks, and RV Camping availability can be found on the resort’s site. Live arts, fire performers, arts & crafts vendors, and food trucks will all be on hand as well.
Zach Fowler also shared with us that he will perform a sunrise solo acoustic set on Saturday morning between 5:30-6:30 a.m.
