The Supervillains New “Political Porn” Single

On October 11th, 2016 Orlando, Florida’s The Supervillains released a new single titled “Political Porn” ahead of the upcoming elections. We had a chance to catch up with drummer/vocalist Dom Maresco to see what else the group has planned going into 2017.

While you can listen to the song below, when we asked guitarist/vocalist Skart how the group went from concept to creation of their new single “Political Porn”, we were told quite specifically that: “Right now someone is shitting in a bathroom stall at Olive Garden sharing their spv_politicalporn300daily political post/meme of the day and as soon as it posts, they’re gonna need a busboy to come clean the Men’s Bathroom with a jizzmop. Meanwhile, their date is on their their third order of bread-sticks and she’s wondering if the free salad was even worth it. Elections aren’t even about our issues anymore. People are jerking off to this shit. It might not be with their organs, buts its definitely genuine and deep-seeded. People share this shit with their friends on social media like its a VHS copy of ‘Taxi Girls.’ Every good porn needs a good soundtrack, so we decided to write one. We hope you enjoy it. Bring a towel.”

If you’re wondering what The Supervillains think of the current political landscape, I think this new single sums it up. The last single we heard from The Supervillains came in November of 2015 with the drop of “The Place.”. Since 2006, the group has released 4 studio albums 1 EP and a new single with the release of “Political Porn.”.

When asked what the groups plans were for writing and releasing new music beyond the latest single, Dom states: “We plan on releasing a few singles over the remainder of the year, including our latest cover, ‘Head Like a Hole,’ by Nine Inch Nails. ‘Political Porn’ and ‘Head Like a Hole’ will be released on vinyl with a release date settling just before Christmas. We hope to have a full record released in the beginning of next year. In the meantime, look out for our singles!”

The group plans to finish out 2016 with a string of beach dates throughout Florida, from Orlando to Sandford and St. Petersburg with plans to branch-out after the first of the year. As for what the group has been up to personally, Dom tells The Pier: “It’s been business as usual down here, shows, fishing and lots of smoke. We had a close call with hurricane Matthew but luckily we all came through okay. Skart has been minding the farm and (bassist) BJ has really come out of his shell on stage.life is good!”
