The Bennies Set to Release 4th Album ‘Natural Born Chillers’

The Bennies are a downright wild 4-piece out of Melbourne, Australia that feature a bipolar mix of skanky, laxed-out reggae and heart attack punk rock. The Aussie quartet is following up their 2016 thumper Wisdom Machine with a brand new album titled Natural Born Chillers.
As mentioned inside our 2018 Most Anticipated Albums feature, the unabashed party animals have slated February 2nd, 2018 as the release date for their new album. Natural Born Chillers will release via Pool House Records and Remote Control Records.

“Get High Like An Angel,” the first single off the upcoming record, gives a solid dose of what to expect on Natural Born Chillers; weed anthems, psychedelic interludes, and primal screams. Speaking on the single, lead singer Anty Horgan says, “This song deals with my internal debate about whether to behave and be good – or to fuck it all up and go party.”

He adds, “Originally we recorded a longer version of this song – with a fairly spaced out dub style bridge. It’s always hard to know with recording dub – how much do you allow for space and not much happening – versus the impatience and lack of attention span we all have. We decided to keep it brief and just choose those pivotal moments to try and communicate with some psychedelic aliens.”

Natural Born Chillers was recorded with Sam Johnson (The Smith Street Band, The Hard Aches, Campe Cope), and promises to be lyrically and sonically the group’s most focused and mature work to date. The Bennies recently wrapped up an Australia tour where they debuted new tracks from Natural Born Chillers. In Spring 2018, they’ll be hitting a number of European cities in support of the new album. Whether it’s on stage, in the studio, or on the tour bus, The Bennies’ unbridled energy doesn’t come with an off switch, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for when the boys make plans to come Stateside.
