Los Angeles’ Arise Roots have recently announced plans for the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album, Love and War. Available everywhere on August 5th, the album is host to 15 original tracks showcasing the band’s signature sound of modern roots style reggae along with guest appearances by some of today’s rapidly rising artists in the reggae scene.
The album was produced in San Diego, California, at E.N Young’s Imperial Sound Recording Studio. Fans first got a taste of what to expect on the new album back in November of 2013 with the release of its first single, “Cool Me Down,” featuring Hirie. Other special guests on the album include E.N Young of Tribal Seeds, Stephen Newland of Rootz Underground, Matt Liufau of Seedless and Dan Kelly of Fortunate Youth.

Formed in 2010, Arise Roots has continued to overcome every obstacle thrown their way and have shown no signs of slowing down. Just this year, the band made its first appearance at the California Roots Music & Arts Festival as they opened up the night at Planet Gemini for the “Cali Roots Pre-Party,” making them the first official act of the entire weekend. Arise Roots was also the first band to be featured in our on-the-spot live acoustic sessions held in front of The Pier booth throughout the festival.
They have begun filming a couple more full production music videos in different locations throughout southern California for the songs, “Love You Right” & “Dangerous” featuring Matthew Liufau of Seedless.
I was lucky enough to be invited into Imperial Sound Recording Studio as the band was recording “Dangerous.” Being one of the first to hear the band’s newest creation and witness E.N Young’s professionalism in the studio first hand was an amazing experience. Even more impressive was when Matt of Seedless showed up to record his verse. He showed up with his laptop just as everyone had taken a break to eat lunch and 15 minutes later, his verse was written and coming to life in the vocal booth!
Now backed by Rude Entertainment Productions, I&I Brewing, and Rerooted Apparel, Arise Roots is well equipped and ready to reach new heights. A special shout out to Arise Roots for including The Pier and myself in their Thank You liner-notes! Make sure to pick up their newest album, Love and War, on August 5th!
