Ballyhoo! has literally been touring nonstop in 2012, and with the year winding down the Aberdeen, Maryland quartet is not nearly done just yet!
With a fully booked touring schedule during the summer on the 2012 Vans Warped Tour, then shortly after, the Night and Day tour in support of Tribal Seeds, lead singer and guitarist, Howi Spangler noted, “We came right off of Warped Tour and jumped into the Tribal Seeds tour. It was cool to get back to the larger club vibe after doing festivals all summer long. It was a pleasure to hang with those guys and their fans were really great.” Ballyhoo! is now prepared to finish up the year with headlining dates in seven different states, including four performances in their home state of Maryland.
Before playing a string of dates on the mainland, Ballyhoo! will embark on their very first trip to the Hawaiian islands! On October 13th, Ballyhoo! will invade Honolulu’s The Republik for their very first performance in the 808 state. With reggae being a natural fit in Hawaii, Ballyhoo! has already been featured on KUCD 101.9 Honolulu’s alternative rock radio prior to even performing locally.
In terms of radio success, Ballyhoo! has received spins on their hometown station HFS Baltimore, WWDC Washington D.C., Sirius XM Faction, WRFF 104.5 Philadelphia, WJRR Orlando, WRKN New Orleans, KITS San Francisco, among many other stations across the fifty-states.
Ballyhoo!’s latest single “Last Night” from their 2011 release Daydreams, which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Reggae Charts as well as #4 on Amazon, has reached #1 on Sirius XM Faction. “Last Night” has received almost 500 plays to date – last week beating out brand new tracks from The Offspring, The Gaslight Anthem and NOFX, to name a few.
Ballyhoo! continues to gain momentum with 2012 being the biggest and most successful year of the band’s career, and the band’s fan base, “The Hooligans”, continues to grow through the band’s steadfast commitment to touring and the growing awareness of the band on radio. But it is not just on the radio, recently on MTV, Ballyhoo! was named as one of MTV’s Top 100 Bands to Watch, and even featured 2 downloadable songs on the popular video game ROCK BAND.
With 2012 finishing up with a bang for Ballyhoo!, it will be interesting to see wherte the band goes from here in 2013!
