On June 25th, Aberdeen, MD’s reggae/rock band Ballyhoo! will drop their new 14 track album, Pineapple Grenade. The album features a song produced by Rome Ramirez and mixed by the great, Paul Leary. This album will be released amidst their Summer tour with Authority Zero!
Pineapple Grenade is the bands first full length album since the fall 2011 release of Daydreams, which was also nominated for Album of the Year in The Pier’s 2011 Pier Awards.
Singer/Guitarist, Howi Spangler shared this about the forthcoming release: “Pineapple Grenade! is more chill than Daydreams, but the songs still hit pretty hard in other ways. We got to play around with guitar tones and different sounds – I love that we try new things with each release.”
The first single off the album will be the song, titled “Run” on May 14th. Pre-order options for both digital and physical copies will also begin next Tuesday, May 14th. The iTunes pre-order will include 2 bonus tracks while the Physical pre-orders will include 1 free song and t-shirt bundling options. All of this is outlined at Ballyhoorocks.com.
The group is excited to announce that the album will be released independently via the groups newly launched record label, Right Coast Records. All the songs were written & produced by Ballyhoo! with the exception of the song “No Good”, that was produced by Rome Ramirez of Sublime with Rome. Most of the album was recorded with Greg Shields & Mike Stebe out of Sound Lounge Studios in Winter Park, FL. And the cover art you see below was drawn up by Shaun Logan, a staple in the visual arts of the reggae-rock community.
