Big wave pro surfer, musician, and candidate for Honolulu City Council, Makua Rothman takes a break from campaigning to chase the recent CODE RED swell in Maui.
After taking home the world title in big wave surfing, making chart topping music, and countless other impressive endeavors Hawaii’s own Makua Rothman is now running for Honolulu City Council. The now candidate Rothman took a break from campaigning and rushed over to Maui to surf a spot that hasn’t broken in 30 years. Makua told The Pier “This could be a once in a lifetime chance and I had to enjoy this moment.”
With Makua’s list of accomplishments and already busy schedule he told The Pier about his decision to run for city Council.
“THE KULEANA IS OURS (RESPONSIBILITY), AND IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO LEAVE THIS PLACE, OUR PLACE HAWAI’I BETTER THAN IT WAS LEFT TO US.”
Makua is a unique individual who gives so much to his community and we know he will be successful at everything he puts his mind to. Take a minute and enjoy his recent video from his series Makualoha.
