March 25th marks the full length debut album release date from Law Records recording artist Cydeways. The self-titled record includes 11 total tracks playing 38 minutes with a slew of collaborative songs that will take us into spring and summer 2022.
Cydeways is fronted by guitarist/vocalist Dustin Parks who is originally from Boston, MA. He made the move out to Los Angeles, CA before later finding residency in Santa Barbara, CA. Overtime he was able to solidify his band with Casey Kernohan on Drums, Daniel Kearney on Bass, Jeremy Baker on guitar, Trevor Buckingham as producer/engineer and Dana Shoults on keys/co-production.
The group first announced their signing with Law Records in the fall of 2018 when they released their hit single, “Shadows”, featuring Grieves. Since then, they’ve gone on to release several singles, including their After Hours EP in 2020 that shelled out 7 total tracks, including “Shadows” and a featured guest spot from Ballyhoo! on the song “Come Alive.”
In 2018, The Pier spoke with Law Records, Yesod Williams, where he told us how he came to sign the band, explaining: “I was podcasting Joe D. from Iration and he mentioned Cydeways to me. He’s friends with Dustin. After a little time, Hawaiian time that is, I finally reached out to Dustin. He sent me a track he had coincidentally done featuring another mutual friend in the Rhymesayers artists, Grieves. Serendipity? I’d say so!”
What’s fun about this band is their ability to dance around genres at will; from Reggae-rock, to Hip Hop, Alternative Punk with a crossover Pop layer of general likability that will find their music playing in many rooms of preferred genres.
“Our previous releases have been more heavy, forward reggae kind of tunes” notes Cydeways frontman, Dustin Parks. “But we’ve always been really into creating our own hybrid sound. We have a lot of hip-hop, alternative, and reggae influences, and we’ve always wanted to mash those three genres together.”

Their new album features guest vocals from G. Love on the song “Everything You Need.” Kaleo Wassman of Pepper is featured on the song “Come Down” and Surfer Girl’s Carter Reeves adds a featured verse to “Take Flight.” The song “Down” came from the band finding themselves in the room working with pop punk/alternative rock producer, Kyle Black.
Leading off their album is the track “Gold” that was produced by Left Coast Sound, which includes the production duo of Jungle Josh & David Foral (of Dirty Heads). Also featured on the production of “Gold” are live horns courtesy of Iration’s Drake Peterson on Trumpet as well as the one Tony Trombone rocking his Trombone.
