“This song is an ode to the magic and charm of Mexico. Every time we visit, we find that there is a certain intoxicating quality that comes with the raw natural beauty, culture and the people. We tried to capture that feeling in the song.” says Iration lead vocalist, Micah Pueschel.
The album was co-written and produced by acclaimed songwriter/producer Suzy Shinn (Panic! at the Disco, Weezer, Dua Lipa) in addition to longtime friend and producer David Manzoor, and the band themselves, and features guest appearances by Maxi Priest and Claire Wright.
The narrative new single tells of an illuminating day trip across the border into Baja California. With infectious, rhythmic melodies, “Daytrippin” recalls the characters and scenes of an uncharted experience – leaving behind what’s comfortable for a summertime adventure:
“The new album, Daytrippin is a return to our roots. We set out to strike a balance between polished studio production and the energy of a live show. We leaned on our reggae and rock influences to find a natural evolution from earlier albums like Time Bomb and Hotting Up,” says Pueschel.
Iration first teased the new Daytrippin album in April 2023 with the release of its lead single “IRL.” Short for “In Real Life” the song celebrates the experiences, bonds and little moments to cherish day-to-day. Watch the new music video for “IRL” HERE.
Iration will be touring heavily in 2023 in support of the new album. The group just announced their IRL Fall Tour with special guests Artikal Sound System and Cydeways, visiting 14 states coast-to-coast. The tour kicks off Oct. 13 in Sacramento, California with stops in Seattle, Denver, Nashville, Boston and Charlotte, among others, before the finale performance Nov. 18 in Riverside, CA.
The band will headline this year’s Reggae Rise Up Festival in both Maryland (June 25) and Las Vegas (Oct. 6). Iration also joins Rebelution on their Good Vibes Summer Tour 2023, visiting 35+ cities across 22 states starting June 1 in Austin, Texas. Iration’s sun-drenched songs have also garnered critical acclaim with American Songwriter, Billboard, All Music, The Noise and others.
