Law Records Sign Cydeways & Release New Single!

Cydeways is a band we haven’t much covered since the end of 2016 when they released “Sun Goes Down.” But they’re back in a big way having signed with Pepper‘s Law Records ahead of their new single, “Shadows” featuring Grieves.

Cydeways is fronted by guitarist/vocalist Dustin Parks who is originally from Boston, MA. He made the move out to Los Angeles, CA to pursue Cydeways as more than just a basement project. He later found residency in Santa Barbara, CA and overtime solidified his band, rounded out by drummer Casey Kernohan, Ryan Loui on Bass, Jeremy Baker on guitar, Trevor Buckingham as producer/engineer with Dana Shoults on keys/co-production.

The group eventually caught the attention of Law Records and in speaking with Law’s Yesod Williams, he shares how Cydeways wound up on his radar, telling The Pier: “I was podcasting Joe D. from Iration and he mentioned Cydeways to me. He’s friends with Dustin. After a little time, Hawaiian time that is, I finally reached out to Dustin. He sent me a track he had coincidentally done featuring another mutual friend in the Rhymesayers artists, Grieves, serendipity? I’d say so!”

Yesod goes on to share that “I continued to vibe with Dustin and caught right off the bat how hungry and ready to hustle he was; sometimes a lost art. At that point it was on, the boys rolled down to the South Bay and we met in Hermosa Beach, ended up meeting the rest of the crew in Rhode Island when we were on tour with Stoopid and Stick this summer. Everything just synthesized!”

When we asked for a quick breakdown of Cydeways, Yesod says: “I would describe them as edgy hip-hop, reggae with a deep appreciation for the old school! These boys are a young band with potential through the roof; sky’s the limit!”

Such can be heard with their latest track, “Shadows,” that is a bass heavy, hip-hop laced reggae track with melodic flows throughout the song. You can now enjoy the song with the music video found below. Following this single, the plan for Cydeways is to work on a follow up to “Shadows” & their 2017 10-track release of But It Ain’t House Music, while also fitting in some shows.
