Nattali Rize’s “Hypocrisy” Background:
Nattali Rize new album Rebel Frequency is true to title with an emphasis on creating socio-political awareness. The term ‘social change’ is not quite enough for Nattali, her thinking is more along the lines of “full systemic overhaul!” with Rebel Frequency, Nattali declares “We’re here to deliver a different frequency to what is being transmitted by the current world system and culture of consumerism and mental slavery. Our words, melodies, rhythms, and intentions are to empower and inspire full freedom – that frequency is a rebel in this paradigm.”
The album is 12 total tracks with guest appearances courtesy of Julian Marley, Dre Island, Jah9, Raging Fyah, Kabaka Pyramid, and Notis. The album was produced by long time Rize collaborator Carlo “OneRebel” Santone in addition to Notis Heavyweightrockaz (JA) and Lotek (UK).
The song we chose as our Leak of the Week was “Hypocrisy,” and what stood out is how the song is very electric, yet still has a stripped down presence while the vocals march out in front of the song as the track slowly builds.
Here’s what Nattali told The Pier with regards to the song: “What people need is their autonomy to create and design their own new realities, their own communities that thrive instead of struggle to survive. While the worlds governing systems are filled with hypocrites who claim they stand for freedom while bombing and waging war inside other nations for resources — we believe there is a better way, and it starts with us reclaiming our power, our minds, our thinking and thereby our future.”
