The Black Seeds – “Frostbite”
“Frostbite” Background:
“Frostbite is a fresh down tempo driving track with a killer vocal and catchy synth hook. We’re excited to release this Deluxe Version of ‘Dust And Dirt’ says keyboardist Nigel Patterson.
Having just won the award for “Best Roots Album” at the 2012 New Zealand Music Awards, Dust And Dirt was originally released in April where it debuted at #1 on the New Zealand album charts and topped the iTunes reggae charts in North America and Europe.
The 20-Track Deluxe Version includes the extended speaker-shuddering “Daddy Vad” remix of “Wide Open” by DJ Vadim, a trademark smoked-up dub re-working of “Dust And Dirt” by UK producer Prince Fatty, and the new unreleased track “Toon-A-Loon.” The Seeds go back to their roots with dub versions of three more album tracks, and an extended DJ Edit of “Don’t Turn Around.”

The Black Seeds Bio/Background:
The Blacks Seeds are wildly popular in their native country, and around the globe. Since their debut in 2001, the band has released a total of five studio albums, one live album, along with several songs featured on international compilations, including The Pier’s Pacific Island Sampler last summer. Every studio album to date has gone at least platinum. The Black Seeds’ third album “Into the Dojo” went double platinum, and received international attention and serious airplay in Europe. The Black Seeds fifth, and most recent, album “Dust and Dirt” was released on Easy Star Records in April 2012, and is poised to set a new standard for The Black Seeds and the genre as a whole. In the album’s first week it peaked at number one on New Zealand iTunes, number three on the U.S. iTunes reggae chart and number three on the U.S. Amazon reggae chart.
In April, The Black Seeds completed a successful two-week North American tour spanning both coasts and Canada. Following that, they performed at many of Europe’s major music festivals over the summer including Sziget, Lowlands, and Summer Sundae.
