The Hip Abduction“Hideaway” (ft Anthony B)

“Hideaway” Background:
The groups debut self-titled album is set to be released on December 3rd and was produced by Michael Goldwasser (The Green, Rebelution, Easy Star All Stars). The album was recorded analog in order to capture a vintage vibe & was recorded in March of 2013 at Clear Track Studios in Clearwater, FL and mixed/mastered at Capture Sound Studio in Brooklyn NY.

Here’s what the group had to say with regards to the new track “Hideaway” with Anthony B.:
This track was spawned after a week-long binge of Gregory Isaacs, Bunny Wailer, and The Congos. Sometimes the best songs come when you’re not even trying, and this was certainly one of those songs. As with most of our music, we mixed the reggae with West African traditional rhythms and melody by incorporating the kamale n’goni harp on the bridges.
After writing the tune we thought it would be perfect to feature Anthony B on a verse because he seemed to capture the energy of the main character in the storyline. We wanted him to spit just a verse but he actually ended up singing over the intro, entire bridge, and 3rd verse. We loved it so much we kept it all. Its really hard to re-create the vibe of reggae classics so it was killer to work with Anthony B and Michael Goldwasser, especially on this track!”

This is an exclusive Unreleased give-away from The Hip Abduction, so tell your friends its available this week only & only at The Pier! You can’t even pre-order the new album until November 5th! Mark your calendars because on November 5th, when you’re able to Pre-order their album, you’ll receive another FREE download of their new song “Live It Right”.

The Hip Abduction Background:
The Hip Abduction mixes reggae, rock, and African traditions to create their own unique sound. With heavy emphasis placed on African stringed instruments (kora, ngoni), dub-reggae-inspired bass lines, and funky afro-beat percussion, the band’s high-energy performances have won them a loyal statewide following. Formed on the gulf coast of Florida in 2009, The Hip Abduction has quickly grown from just a few African instrument playing surfers to a full-blown 7-piece reggae powerhouse.

“THA” (as coined by fans) is currently touring the east coast constantly while hyping their new soon-to-be-released 12-song LP, which was produced by Michael Goldwasser (Easy Star Records).
