Jamtown, the new trio comprised of G. Love, Cisco Adler and Donavon Frankenreiter have arrived and are ready to invade your speakers. Their debut self-titled EP was just released via Adler’s own Bananabeat Records on June 23 — read up on the details and give it a listen!
Surely you’ll recognize this trio with a shared history spanning over two decades — this has been years in the making stemming back some 14 years ago when G. Love and Frankenreiter crossed paths for the first time, and the group came together to record with Adler last December in Malibu. Adler has plenty of hits already to his name as well, but is also widely renowned for his work as a producer having already worked alongside Wiz Khalifa, Del the Funky Homosapien, Mike Posner and others.
The new EP release is short but sweet. Five tracks clocking in at just about 21 minutes. File this one under a concoction of blues, easy-going vocals, acoustic and island-centric guitars with a strong flex of the harmonica to go along with it. Long story short, you can label this one whatever you’d like really — because it has that much versatility.
Jamtown first debuted “Fool in Love” in anticipation for the EP release which can be viewed below, and shortly after released the follow-up “Island Time”; a track that will quickly find its way on to your summer playlist! Adler first told us of the project last September when promoting his single “Don’t Kill My Buzz.” Cisco offered up some insight on Jamtown’s new single after catching up with Billboard a couple of weeks ago:
“This song started as a riff on an old rattly dobro. It has a sort of Stonesy harmony thing going on the hook, and a jangly groove that makes you want to stomp your feet. ‘Island Time’ is about checking out and letting the groove take you where you need to go… Island Time!”
