Passafire has had a big summer on the road this year, appearing on several festival stages as well as opening for 311 in NYC, a show Passafire said was “one of the most epic shows of our careers thus far.” Now, the band is getting set to tour this fall, along with select dates that feature The Hip Abduction, T.U.G.G. and The Expanders!
With a unique progressive Rock sound grounded in Reggae and other interesting influences, each year Passafire’s notoriety continues to grow. In order to keep this momentum going, the Savannahian-squad continues to write and produce new music, both a follow up to 2013’s Vines as well as taking on projects from several up-and-coming bands in various genres
Along with this work in the studio, the band has spent time on stage producing a standout show fit to compete alongside side the modern juggernaut of festival and touring acts. Adding to their set, most notably, an auditory apex in “Ghost Man” that allows the members of Passafire to switch-up instruments and jam out for bit.
As the band continues to experiment with the live show, they seem to rarely take time off the road, as they always have a demand in most major markets. This fall’s schedule is no exception as Passafire currently released tickets and details for their next run of shows.
For Passafire, this year’s fall run starts strong as the tour’s schedule is front-loaded with stops at 4 big music festivals. The journey kicks off Saturday, August 16th with a set in Somerset, WI at the 3rd annual Summer Set Music Festival, on a day that also deliver acts like Twiddle, Wu-Tang, and Big Gigantic. From there, Passafire travels through Ohio for a couple shows before heading to Bartow, West Virgina on August 22nd for the 8th Camp Barefoot.
The next day Passafire must make it all the way down to Florida for a coveted spot at the Blackwater Music Festival. Reviving itself from a hiatus in 2012 and 2013, this year Blackwater has billed a line-up that would blow away any Reggae-Rock fan! The weekend is set to include 2-nights of headlining sets from Slightly Stoopid as well as sets from Stephen Marley, Steel Pulse, The Expendables, Tribal Seeds, Easy Star All-Stars, Fishbone, and many more.
After that Punky Reggae Party , Passafire is scheduled for a month long break from touring before traversing westward in mid-September. Working through Missouri and Nebraska, the tour rolls into Denver for the third weekend of Riot Fest playing on Friday, a day that also includes NOFX, Primus, The Flamming Lips, and Weeezer.
From Colorado, Passafire heads down into Texas, playing 5 nights, 4 of which are with The Hip Abduction. Based out of St Petersburg, Florida, The Hip Abduction composed their sounds from reggae and African accents. Fusing sounds of the kora ngoni harp, dub- bass lines, and funky afro-beat percussion, this band creates a mellow and catchy sound unto itself.
In October, Passafire drives back up into Colorado linking up with Wisconsin’s Alternative-Reggae outfit, T.U.G.G., who will be supporting Passafire for 3 nights before The Expanders pick-up the tour in Tucson for 8 shows through California into Seattle. The tour closes by playing its way East, ending with what is sure to be a party as the band plays Keyboardist Mike DeGuzman’s home town of Chicago, Illinois.
