Back in August Passafire sent waves through the Reggae-Rock community, announcing the band would be joining Easy Star Records for the release of Passafire’s fifth full length studio album. With just over a month till the highly anticipated release, Passafire has released the track list and cover art for VINES!

Just a couple years ago, in September of 2011, Passafire released Start From Scratch. The record released to much acclaim from many fans and artists across the genre, and the band toured relentlessly in support of the release. Even with the added challenge of incorporating a whole new album into their set list bank, it appears as if the group did not stop working on new material.
With just a couple years between recording sessions, only one track on Vines, “Go,” was developed out of the writing sessions for Start From Scratch.
Bassist Will Kubley explains, “It didn’t make (the album) because we ran out of time and it was the least developed at that point. It was probably for the better. I think it fits in more on this new record. We all knew we couldn’t leave that one in the vaults.”
Though they wrapped up production back in April, Passafire has been previewing new tracks in various live sets since late last year. Throughout the nation, Passafire fans are already familiar with several songs including “Earthquake”, “Right Thing” and “Invisible”.
Now November 11th, under Easy Star Records, fans will finally be able to jam to the other 10 tracks on Vines. Mixed once again by infamous producer Paul Leary, the band ensures fans the new music includes metal, folk, reggae, and synthesizers.
Listening to the three samples, the tracks have a maturity and depth to them, traits gained only by working out material together on the road. Passafire vocalist and guitarist Ted Bowne explains, “…As the years progress, our stylistic preferences change and intertwine to a point where the music becomes tighter like vines growing around each other over a long period of time.”
Along with the release of the Vines track list, Passafire has also released the new record’s cover art. Featuring a white and black dog, the artwork was illustrated by Passafire’s own drummer, Nick Kubley. Like the artwork, Passafire kept many aspects of the recording process in house. Literally recording in their home as well as working once again at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas.
Working in a familiar setting brought comfort to the group during the recording process. “The staff at Sonic Ranch is amazingly proficient and we just don’t see any reason to record anywhere else!” Pre-sales for Vines start Monday, September, 30th, while tickets of any of the upcoming shows on the Fall BrewHaha Tour are on sale now!

Discussing how the groups linked up, Passafire told The Pier, “We’ve been criss-crossing paths with Ballyhoo for years now, it’s great to be finally linking up. A tour centered around drinking beer and playing loud music is only logical for the both of us. It was just inevitable!
