It’s hard to believe that in all of the songs and albums put out between Pepper and Slightly Stoopid, respectively, that not once has it come about them actually recording a song together; Even after double digit tours dating back to the early 2000’s! Well that has changed now that Pepper’s new single “Good Thing Going” features Miles Doughty of Slightly Stoopid!
It was announced in a recent interview with drummer, Yesod Williams, when he shared with The Pier: “I’m more than happy to say that our brother, Miles (Doughty) from Slightly Stoopid will have a whole verse on ‘Good Thing Going.’ Me and the boys were talking one day, months ago, about new music and it dawned on us, we’d never done a collaboration with Stoopid, AKA the first band/people we met when we moved to San Diego from Kona on May 12, 1999!”

“Good Thing Going” is a version the band adapted from an old reggae artist they love in Sugar Minott. Miles was able to track his verse with the help of his engineer James Wisner, aka J-Wiz, amid Stoopid’s Sounds of Summer Tour. “Kaleo had a demo version of the cover he had worked up at home,” Yesod shares. “So we literally texted Miles on the spot and that was that! Extra big shout out to Miles and J-Wiz for pulling the verse together while prepping and being on the ‘Sounds of Summer’ tour!”
The song will be the first taste of new music following Pepper’s 2016 release of Ohana. This will also be the first time Pepper has had a guest feature on a song since the late, great Josh Fischel of Bargain Music guested on “Stormtrooper” from the 2002 release of Kona Town.
