The demand for American Reggae continues to spread as we see reggae-rock music festivals sprouting up in new regions across the U.S. This time we see the DMV take spotlight as Reggae Rise Up spreads their festival experience to Baltimore, Maryland this July.
What started out as a 2 day festival experience in Utah back in July of 2014 quickly expanded to a 1 day festival that same September in Florida. Before long, both Reggae Rise Up festivals were hosting 3-day events with Florida happening in March and of course they expanded to another region with Reggae Rise Up Las Vegas that will occur October 7-9. Now, we have Reggae Rise Up Maryland that will take place from July 29th – 31st, 2022.
Headlining their inaugural festival for the DMV region will be Slightly Stoopid, Dirty Heads along with Grammy Award Winning band & hometown heroes to the DMV, SOJA. Also playing the festival is Iration, Pepper, Trevor Hall, The Movement, Matisyahu, Lila Ike, Kabaka Pyramid, Fortunate Youth, Common Kings, Atmosphere, Iya Terra, Hirie, Signal Fire, Protoje, Jesse Royal, Atmosphere, Bikini Trill, Artikal Sound System, Nattali Rize, Sense Trails, and The Elovaters.
Joining SOJA from the DMV region is the Aberdeen, MD based Ballyhoo!, D.C.’s Dale & The Z Dubs, Baltimore’s Joint Operation and Pasadena’s The Harbor Boys.
The 3 day event will take place at South Point in Downtown Baltimore’s developing Port Covington District. Weekend passes are starting at $100 with multi-day passes starting at $90, and single-day passes starting at $45. Additionally, Reggae Rise Up will be offering official ticket and travel packages. Each package includes a 2-to-5 night stay at partner hotels in the Baltimore area, festival ticket(s), and exclusive add-ons for purchase such as after-party/open bar access, official festival merchandise, reservations to an all-inclusive Sunday brunch and more.
