Riot Fest — one of the largest independent festivals left — is returning to Douglass Park in Chicago, IL this summer for its 17th year of production. Headlining acts include My Chemical Romance on Friday, The Original Misfits on Saturday, and Nine Inch Nails on Sunday. Riot Fest is also welcoming some newcomers, most notably including indie-rockers Yeah Yeah Yeahs, goth rockers Bauhaus, and a re-united Sunny Day Real-Estate. Another reunion act, Yellowcard, will be at the festival performing their only show of 2022. Other Riot Fest first timers include Portugal. The Man, Yungblud, Placebo, Jeff Rosenstock, Lunachicks, The Linda Lindas, and Lucky Boys Confusion.
Founder Mike Petryshyn expressed his excitement for this year’s festival, saying, “I think this year’s lineup really speaks to who we are; it’s been a minute since we’ve gotten to create a lineup like this. I’m really excited for what this is leading into: the stuff that’s happening in the next few weeks, and the years to come.”
