Silky smooth reggae-soul singer Sammy J has just announced his upcoming U.S. tour! After a March 4th kickoff in Tahiti, the New Zealand native will travel stateside to headline a number of shows throughout the continental U.S. and Hawaii.
The extensive tour concludes in Anaheim on April 16th, with a performance at the House of Blues.
Sammy J, short for Sammy Johnson, has Maori and Polynesian roots, which he embraces to create music that is genuinely uplifting. Formerly based in Auckland, NZ, Sammy J recently transitioned to the U.S., where he has been making waves with his tender, soulful voice and a jazzy, island reggae vibe. That distinct sound is exhibited throughout his 2014 release, The Sammy Johnson EP, as well as on 2015 singles, “I’m the One for You” and “Waiting”.
Sammy J will be supported on tour by California’s Tenelle and Hawaii-based trio The Late Ones (their song “Hi Power” was deservedly recognized as one of The Pier’s Top Tunes of 2015). Sammy J and Tenelle recently paired up to create his new single “Say That You Love Me”, which becomes available on all digital platforms February 26th.
“I’m excited to be releasing a new single with the very talented Tenelle. The song is about two people wanting to say they love each other to each other but they don’t”, explains Sammy J. “We all go through that experience where you want to express your feelings to someone but we hesitate. The song will hopefully see people taking the first step.”
Tickets for Sammy J’s upcoming tour featuring Tenelle and The Late Ones can be purchased on his official website (posted below).
