In 2015 SOJA continues on tour, supporting their Grammy nominated record, Amid The Noise and Haste. After opening their year with a spot down in Jamaica, the band is set for their first US run of the year, a 14 show east coast tour with special guests on select dates, The Green, JBoog, Leilani Wolfgramm and Common Kings.
On the heels of their first Grammy Award nomination for Best Reggae Album, SOJA begins their touring schedule of the year with a run that shares 8 dates with Hawaii’s The Green, 5 dates with California’s Common Kings and features support from Leilani Wolfgramm on the entire run. Additionally, it was recently announced that beginning February 13th, JBoog will also be making a special appearance each night during SOJA’s set for a very special collaborative performance.
Just off a cross-country headlining run of their own, The Green will meet up with SOJA February 12th for a sold out show at the Music Farm in Charleston, SC. Together, the groups will then play to a sold out crowd at Orlando’s House of Blues before heading down to Miami to play the big 9 Mile Music Festival. Falling on Valentine’d Day, this year the annual Reggae Festival also features Stephen “Ragga” Marley, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, and Julian “Juju” Marley, Jo Mersa Marley, Capleton, Tanya Stephens, Jesse Royal and more.
From there, the bands head north along the east coast up to SC and NC, ending the run on the 21st with a sold out show at The National in Richmond, VA. Out of these 8 shows, 5 of are already sold out! There is good news though for those who couldn’t score a ticket to any of these shows or really for any SOJA fan.
On Sunday February 15th, at a sure-to-sell out show in St. Petersburg’s Jannus Live, Yahoo Live will be in attendance, broadcasting SOJA’s set live online. Click here to watch the show. The stream starts at 9:00p.m. EST and will replay for the 24 hours after the show ends.
On February 25th, the tour picks back up Charlotte, NC. A leg with Common Kings playing direct support, as The Green heads back down to Miami to get aboard 311’s sold out bi-annual Caribbean Cruise. Together on this second leg of SOJA’s east cost tour, the groups will work down to Atlanta, up to Philadelphia and on to Boston.
Also on SOJA’s schedule this spring is several live performances abroad. On March 7th, SOJA will play in San Juan Puerto Rico. Happening at the Isla Grande Pier, the bill also includes special guests La Mala Rodriguez, Gomba Jahbari and Calma Carmona. Later that month, SOJA has also listed 2 nights in Mexico. In the beginning of April, SOJA will hit the Byron Bay Bluesfest as well as possibly reuniting with Michael Franti and Trevor Hall, taking their Soulshine Tour down under (pending Franti’s recovery from a knee injury.)
Closing out SOJA’s current tour schedule are several big shows this summer. The band is set to play the Colorado’s infamous venue known as Red Rocks on April 18th, headline the California Roots Festival on May 22nd, and return for a set at Bonnaroo mid-June.
