Needful Things is expected to be a whopping 25 total tracks that will debut in its entirety on July 15th, 2022. The record will feature guest vocalist Angelnumber 8 on a song titled “Pretty Power.” Gabe McNair (No Doubt/Sublime) contributes background vocals, keys, trombone & synthesizer to a lot of songs while Stu Brooks of Dub Trio added some sauce to the album, including heavy production on a track titled “Heaven On My Shoulders” that the group credits him as taking to a whole new level. Then there’s Paul Leary of Butthole Surfers who plays guitar on a few songs, including their latest single, “World Ends Everyone Dies.”
Paul Leary handled most of the albums production while Stu did some heavy lifting on a handful of tracks. In addition to that, Paul & Stu collaborated on a few productions with a couple of Lonner’s favorites being “Pretty Power” and “Left For Dead.”
Wilson tells The Pier that the albums title, Needful Things, is a reminder to “be careful what you wish for.” As for their latest single, “World Ends Everyone Dies,” Lonner explains to The Pier: “I was at a bar one day at the beginning of the pandemic and I was trying to come up with a band name for this project. Something that contained the first initial of all of our names. I did a shot of Tequila with Wade, slammed it on the bar and said ‘World Ends Everyone Dies.’ It’s never said in the song but represents the ethos.”
We first reported on Spray Allen’s formation in May of 2021. Almost one year later and we’re celebrating the news of their debut album set to drop this July. Sherman adds: “The last couple years have been such a blur. From meeting and jamming, to becoming a band, to COVID, to making the album, to our first tour etc. It feels like we’ve been doing this forever but its still so new. We’re excited for everyone to hear what we’ve put so much of ourselves into.”
In the mean time, stay tuned for more details and look out for them on tour with dates listed below.
