Sublime with Rome & The Offspring Summer 2017 Tour

Nothing screams the ’90’s like the sound of Sublime or The Offspring. Both bands produced music so timeless we have to remind ourselves when it was released and if you’re over the age of 30, both bands were likely a big part of your teenage sound-track. This summer, The Offspring will be touring with Sublime with Rome as they look to bring back the nostalgic sound of the ’90’s youth.

With The Offspring hailing from Huntington Beach and Sublime’s roots stemming from Long Beach, CA, both bands were responsible for top-charting singles, albums, along with 2 completely influential sounds that somehow work beautifully together being played after each-other on the radio or on stage in a live setting — This is a big southern, CA sound that will be hitting the road.

Addressing the elephant in the room, this wont be the same Sublime you heard in the ’90’s with Sublime with Rome on stage as Rome Ramirez brings his own unique take on vocals/guitar with his tribute to the late Brad Nowell. Sublime bassist SwR_OffspringEric Wilson will be seen on stage next to a new face with new Sublime with Rome drummer, Carlos Verdugo. Verdugo was previously the longtime drummer for Tribal Seeds as he joins SwR in 2017 replacing Josh Frees and original Sublime/SwR drummer, Bud Gaugh.

The Offspring sound as good as ever with vocalist/guitarist Dexter Holland, guitarist Noodles, Greg K on bass and Pete Parada on drums. Their 1994 release Smash remains the highest-selling album of all-time on an independent label and the release of Americana in 1998 still has folks talkin’ about being Pretty Fly (For a White Guy). Additionally, this summer will prove to be a celebration of sorts as Dexter Holland graduated from the University of Southern California with a doctorate in molecular biology this May. He’s placing his focus on HIV and immunodeficiency viruses.

“My research is not meant to be a cure or even an immediate step toward a cure, but I believe that by adding to the vast amount of information that we’ve learned about HIV in the last 30 years or so, we’ll get there,” shares Holland. “Toward that end, I’m going to continue to do research, and you’ll probably see some of my research papers get published here and there over the next few years.”

How cool is that? And it makes the upcoming tour all the much more exciting as it will take place in two parts with the first taking place July 6th in Airway Heights, WA before crossing the border for seven Canadian dates, wrapping up on July 15th in London, ON at the Rock the Park Music Festival — The second part of the tour will start back up again on Sept. 8th in Chicago, IL., before concluding on Sept. 30th in Salt Lake City, UT.

While fans will hear classic tracks from both The Offspring and Sublime with Rome, look to hear more modern day original tracks from Sublime with Rome as they’re still promoting their sophomore record, the 2015 release of Sirens. SwR is known to typically mix in some modern day originals from each of their first albums, along with classic Sublime hits you can’t help but sing-a-long to. — You’ll find out if you grab a ticket for a date this summer.
