San Jose natives, The Holdup, just officially released the music video for their track “The Drugs” which appears on their album ‘Still Gold’ that dropped in April of 2011. Since, they have also released a single titled “Slow Songs,” which came out on early last month.
When asked about the release of the new music video, Clev Stiles of the Holdup said to The Pier, “The Drugs was obviously meant to be an upsetting video. We’re not glorifying drug addiction, listen to the song. These were just real life situations a lot of us have been in. Everyone knows ‘drugs are bad’. No one becomes an addict because they never heard that. We don’t need to say that.”
Earlier this year, The Holdup went on a short tour across the Western U.S., sticking primarily to California and Arizona. Unfortunately for their east coast fans, this is also the case for their upcoming shows at the end of February through the end of April. With the recent drop of their 3rd album, a new single, a new video, and a fourth album on the way, it’s clear they have earned the positive attention they have been getting. If you have not already seen the music video for “The Drugs,” be sure to watch it, and if you live on the west coast look for The Holdup at a venue near you.
