The Infamous Stringdusters Celebrate 20 Years With Expansive New Album 20/20

Twenty years into their run as one of modern bluegrass’ most progressive forces, The Infamous Stringdusters are not easing up. Today, the Grammy Award-winning quintet release their ambitious twenty-track album 20/20 via Americana Vibes, marking two decades of redefining what acoustic music can feel like onstage and on record.

The band is also performing tonight at the historic Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, a full-circle moment for a group that has spent twenty years pushing bluegrass beyond its formal boundaries while still honoring its roots.

Praised by Americana Highways for their “potent bluegrass flavors combined with startling dynamism, grand harmonies, and beaucoup sonic oomph,” and named The Bluegrass Situation’s Artist of the Month, the Dusters are leaning into both reflection and forward momentum on 20/20.

The record includes standouts like “Working Man Blues,” “Dead Man Walking,” “Up From The Bottom,” “Light at the End of the Day,” and the cinematic instrumental “Longclaw.” The band also shared a new video for “The Voyageur,” inspired by the historic French-Canadian canoe traders who transported goods and stories along the St. Lawrence River.

Formed in Nashville in the early 2000s, the band originally bonded while working as side players within the bluegrass community. From the beginning, they envisioned something bigger. Bluegrass instrumentation with arena energy. Traditional harmony with jam-band spontaneity. Acoustic virtuosity delivered with rock show intensity.

Banjoist Chris Pandolfi says the band is putting more intention into their music now than ever before. Bassist Travis Book echoes that sentiment, noting that even after twenty years, they are still distilling the strongest elements of what each member brings to the table. Alongside Jeremy Garrett on fiddle, Andy Hall on dobro, and Andy Falco on guitar, the Dusters continue to blur the lines between bluegrass, Americana, indie folk, and jam culture.

Across 20/20, that evolution is clear. “Working Man Blues” channels traditional structure with present-day urgency. “Up From The Bottom” feels like a personal comeback anthem. “Light at the End of the Day” leans into hope during uncertain times. Instrumentals like “Live Rosin” and “Longclaw” showcase the band’s technical firepower while nodding to their love of expansive live moments.

Bluegrass Unlimited called the album “a worthy testament to the Infamous Stringdusters’ twenty-year journey,” highlighting the band’s virtuosity, lyrical depth, and relentless energy.

The release arrives as the band embarks on an extensive U.S. tour that stretches into the summer, including appearances at MerleFest, DelFest, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and a return to Nashville’s legendary Ryman Auditorium on July 14.

Two decades in, The Infamous Stringdusters are still chasing the same spark that first pulled them together in Nashville. Only now, the rooms are bigger, the harmonies tighter, and the fire burns even hotter.
