Riding the wave of success from the release of their debut album The View From the Outside, The Ries Brothers have announced that they’ll be kicking off the new year in style, hitting the road with G Love & Special Sauce on their 25th anniversary tour.
The tour run will run through February and spread across 27 dates. It goes without saying that the resume for G. Love & Special Sauce is impressive. Always showing Philly pride, Garrett “G. Love” Dutton began playing infectious blues rock with his band in 1993 – fast forward 25 years later after gaining a huge fan base in addition to releasing eight studio albums (with three solo releases), and there is cause for celebration. 25 years is a milestone and its awesome to see G. Love celebrating this 25th Anniversary by bringing on a young up and coming duo.
G. Love & Special Sauce recently announced their anticipation for the tour: “We couldn’t be more excited, as this tour marks 25 years of G. Love & Special Sauce touring from coast to coast to coast. These shows are our opportunity to thank all of you for keeping us going, for inspiring us to stay out on the road performing year in and year out. Without all of you, this would never have been possible.”
For The Ries Brothers, the argument can be made that they are the breakthrough artist of 2017. Listeners and fans should take a moment to fully appreciate their musicianship. Their musical diversity is uncanny for their age, and has made them appealing to fans across all genres. This tour will give them additional visibility and attract a new wave of fans — brothers Kevin and Charlie Ries offered some insight on the tour with G Love:
“This is an amazing opportunity for us, to get to play with G. Love & Special Sauce and share our blues influence and still be part of this amazing Reggae community that G has been embraced by is the perfect next step in our career.”
The duo began listening to G. Love at a very young age & elaborated further when talking with The Pier to discuss how the tour itself came together. They got to meet G. Love at a rooftop restaurant during a Jack Johnson show, and their manager David Parnes was able to facilitate an introduction. The rest is history. While G. Love was performing in Mexico at Stoopid’s Closer to The Sun event back in December, folks went up to G stating that they should bring The Ries Brothers on tour.
The Ries Brothers added that “This is an incredible tour and a chance to bring our music to a wide-ranging audience. We think that musically and the overall vibe of both our styles, is gonna be one rocking evening!”
The tour runs from January 11th to February 17th across 15 states on 27 total dates, 4 of which will not include in The Ries Brothers.
