After stealing the show on a month-long tour with The Dead South and Lucero followed by performances at this year’s AmericanaFest and Rebels & Renegades Festival, Colorado Springs-based outlaw alt-folk group Tejon Street Corner Thieves (TSCT) have returned with a brand new cover of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins “I Put A Spell On You”.
“Screamin’ Jay Hawkins was an amazing musician and performer. We thought that we would pay homage to the great musician by covering “I Put A Spell On You”. We couldn’t think of a better time to drop this track than the Halloween season,” commented TSCT frontman Shawn D’Amario.
The cover is Tejon Street Corner Thieves first taste of new music since releasing their latest album Thick As Thieves earlier this year via Liars Club Records, the new label formed by Amigo the Devil and indie powerhouse Regime Music Group. The album was recorded at Royal Recordings in Colorado Springs with producer Bill Douglas (Veruca Salt, Smashing Pumpkins). It has drawn critical acclaim from everyone from Glide, PASTE, MXDWN, New Noise Magazine and others.
Since the album’s release the band hit the road and haven’t looked back, touring relentlessly with the likes of Amigo The Devil, Trampled By Turtles, The Dead South, Stephanie Lambring, and IV and the Strange Band. Tejon Street Corner Thieves’ unique blend of Americana, folk, and bluegrass, defies categorization and has earned them slots on premiere festivals like WinterWonderGrass, Head for the Hills, Blue Ox Music, and Moonrunners Music Festival.
