After about the third song of the set, Jacob Hemphill addressed the crowd in an apologetic tone, saying if he seemed less energetic on stage, it’s because he was recovering from an undisclosed surgery just 4 days prior. Just behind the venue, is an alley way called Kater Street where I found the guys from Fortunate Youth before the show doing a little acoustic set, courtesy of the good people at Vita Coco, (Coconut Water). Performing their song “One Love” off their latest album It’s All a Jam, was Dan Kelly on vocals, Travi Bongos on guitar, Jordan on Cajon, and Corey on guitar. The guys played right outside for a small group of us under these extraordinary mosaics on the walls of this back alley. Shortly after the show, Sublime with Rome took the stage and gave an encore performance of the Sublime self titled album. According to SWR”s Vocalist, Rome Ramirez, the set list was decided upon last minute, paying homage to the classic Self-Titled album. The group played almost every song from the album including “What I Got”, “Burritos”, and “Doing Time”.
