So Eddie Murphy, semi-retired from acting, admits that he has never stopped writing music over the years. “All I’ve been doing is making music, I haven’t been working on films, haven’t been developing movies, or any of that shit.” Murphy has a new album called 9 that will be dropping early next year. As for “Red Light”, he went reggae because, well as he said, “The reggae track best suited that story the way that story is told in that song.” When it came to collaborating with Snoop Lion on the song, Murphy explained “Yo, if he’s Snoop Lion now, he can jump on this track, because I wanted to have a rapper on it. It was perfect. He’s Snoop Lion, I got this reggae track. It was like just meant to be.” Apparently, Murphy & Snoop also recorded another track together titled “Little Miss Mary”, an anthem to weed, that will be released soon.
