Thanks to everyone for participating in the first round of voting for The 2013 Pier Awards. There were 10 Nominee’s per Category and 5 Categories total. Last week, YOU, the fans voted for your Top 5 Artist in each Category & we’re excited to announce the winning Nominee’s moving on to the next & final round of voting…
The final round of voting will take place on Monday, December 16th at 7:00pm (PST). We’ll provide an updated link to the final voting process, once it goes live. You can view all 10 of the artists who were considered for Nominees by clicking HERE
For Artist of the Year, the Top 5 Nominees are:
-Rebelution
-Dirty Heads
-311
-The Green
-Tribal Seeds
Rebelution led this category, but only by 167 votes ahead of Dirty Heads. 311 came in 3rd with the voting & were just 67 votes behind Dirty Heads. The Green & Tribal Seeds rounded out the Top 5 and there were just 128 votes between them. With 1 week of voting, any of these top 5 are capable of winning.
For Album of the Year, the Top 5 Nominees are:
-Slightly Stoopid – Live At Roberto’s TRI Studios
-The Green – Hawai’i 13
-Iration – Automatic
-Ballyhoo! – Pineapple Grenade
-Passafire – Vines
The closest voting came in this category for Album of the Year. Slightly Stoopid was just 25 votes ahead of The Green in the top spot. Another hour of voting and the lead could have changed 5 more times! Iration was just 260 votes out of the top spot and 147 ahead of Ballyhoo!. The distance between Ballyhoo! & Passafire came down to 23 votes, with Ballyhoo! claiming the 4th spot. It’ll be very interesting to see who takes home Album of the Year with votes this close together!
For Live Artist of the Year, the Top 5 Nominees are:
-SOJA
-Ballyhoo!
-Stick Figure
-The Movement
-J Boog
SOJA dominated this category altogether being up over 1100 votes ahead of Ballyhoo! to claim the top spot in the category. Stick Figure came in 3rd with 229 votes behind Ballyhoo!. The Movement & J Boog round out the Top 5 and there were just 47 votes between them with The Movement claiming the 4th spot in the Top 5.
For Break-Out Artist of the Year, the Top 5 Nominees are:
-Nahko & Medicine For The People
-New Kingston
-Krooked Treez
-Kimie
-Thrive
Nahko & Medicine For The People led the Top 5 in voting, but only by 100 votes with New Kingston in a close second. Give it up to Krooked Treez, who in their first year, were only 190 votes out of first, coming in 3rd place. Kimie came in 4th, just 329 votes out & Thrive snuck in the 5th spot, 400 votes out of first. Thrive was 63 votes ahead of Big B who was knockin on their door, late in the voting for the 5th and final spot.
For Music Video of the Year, the Top 5 Nominees are:
-SOJA – “When We Were Younger”
-Slightly Stoopid – “Don’t Stop”
-Pepper – “FKARND”
-Ballyhoo! – “No Good”
-Anuhea & Tarrus Riley – “Only Man In The World”
SOJA lead the voting in this category, but they didn’t quite dominate it with Slightly Stoopid just 387 votes behind. They were neck & neck in the voting the entire week until the last couple of hours when SOJA fans came in strong. Pepper & Ballyhoo! battled for the 3rd & 4th spot. Pepper came out ahead by 155 votes. Anuhea & Tarrus Riley held down the 5th & final spot, but not by much, having edged out Pacific Dub late in the week to move on to the next round of voting!

The final round of voting will commence on Monday, December 16th at 7:00pm (PST) & will end Sunday December 22nd at 7:00pm (PST). The most voted artist per category will be announced at 7:00pm (PST) on Monday December 23rd.
