Ziggy Marley’s ‘Fly Rasta’ Release

It is still months away from the official release of iconic reggae artist Ziggy Marley’s new album, but the buzz around it has been nonstop. The album, titled Fly Rasta, will be available on April 15, 2014 & is a follow up to his Grammy Award Winning Live Album that released January 2013.

We want to congratulate Ziggy Marley on his 6th Grammy Award and if the soaring number of pre-orders is an indicator of Fly Rasta‘s follow up success, this album will be well worth the wait. To give fans a taste of what’s to come, Ziggy released the title track “Fly Rasta” featuring U-Roy and a music video featuring graphic artist Jim Mahfood, already earning thousands of views. Jim Mahfood is also the illustrator of Ziggy’s comic book MARIJUANAMAN.

The album will be released on the Tuff Gong Worldwide label, around since Bob Marley’s vision in 1965 of producing, distributing, and promoting his music without the interference of corporate politics. With decades of experience behind him, this will be Ziggy’s fifth solo studio album, produced with the help of Dave Cooley, J Dilla, and the Silversun Pickups.

The album will also feature The Melody Makers including Cedella Marley, Sharon Marley, and Rica Newell. To get fans excited, Ziggy’s social media has featured reminder posts in addition to a video of a candle illuminating a bible page titled “Keep the fire burning #flyrasta”.

Not only has he been gearing up for the album release, but will also be on a multi-national tour over the next few months including an appearance at the May 2014 Cali-Roots festival. Fans at the festival can appreciate the unique meshing of Ziggy’s infamous style with the influx of new reggae artists such as SOJA, Rebelution, and Slightly Stoopid. One of the anticipated highlights of the tour includes the worldwide album release party at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California.

Music isn’t the only passion Ziggy has been busy with as he’s also working on producing his own comic book series, promoting various humanitarian causes, and managing his own organic line, Ziggy Marley Organics, started in 2012. The line features coconut oil and hemp goods that have reached nationwide popularity. His constant energy and innovation keep fans guessing at what he’ll come up with next.

In the meantime, the album and single are available for pre-order at ziggymarley.com.
