Reel Big Fish’s ‘Why Do They Rock So Hard?’ Now on Vinyl

Orange County ska-rockers Reel Big Fish have put their 1998 album Why Do They Rock So Hard? onto vinyl in a 2 LP set. All 17 songs included on the original release of this classic ska-punk record are present, even the 17 minute, Primus-style eccentricity of “Legend of Alan Guile Versus Peter Bones.”

The 5 minutes of unfilled space at the beginning of that 17-minute track was occupied by a cover of Duran Duran’s “Hungry like the Wolf” on the Japanese release of the original album. No word yet what the LP press contains.

The album can be ordered through Reel Big Fish’s website and runs for $30.00 by clicking HERE!

Why Do They Rock So Hard? was the band’s third studio album following the groups Everything Sucks (1995) and Turn The Radio Off (1996) and the first record where the line-up didn’t change from the previous record. Since the original release of this album, the California band has released five more studio albums and one live album.

Why Do They Rock So Hard? was the last album recorded with original drummer Andrew Gonzales and interim trombonist Grant Barry, the latter of whom was fired after an altercation with a security guard during a concert in St. Louis, Missouri.

The band is currently on the final run of Van’s Warped Tour, which will take them into August where you can find their upcoming tour dates below. We’re anxiously anticipating a new full-length record as we hope to have an announcement for a release sometime this year, although no concrete timeline was given but stay tuned as we look forward to sharing details on their new record.
