Slightly Stoopid Releases New Single: “Higher Now” ft. Chali 2na

As we inch closer to the July 13th release date of Slightly Stoopid‘s 10th studio album, Everyday Life, Everyday People, they have dropped new single “Higher Now” featuring Chali 2na of Jurassic 5.

We first heard about the song back in February during an interview with Chali 2na who was gloating about the bassline of the song that hooked him in wanting to jump on the track.

2na tells The Pier: “The bassline is extra boss! When Miles first played ‘Higher Now’ for me, he was like ‘YO! listen to this bassline! We were on Stoopid’s tour bus, and I was like ‘DUDE, whenever you need me to rap on that, I’m ready!’ And he asked me to get on it just before Closer To The Sun.” 2na goes on to tell The Pier: KeithZacharski_SlightlyStoopid__20170721_7N4A8796“That bassline sounds like it’s shooting out of a fuckin’ cannon!”

Stoopid’s Miles Doughty tells Relix: “Working with the verbal Herman Munster (aka Chali 2na) is always the vibe you need to elevate the music to take us higher now. That being said, higher now is not always about weed, it’s a state of mind through the knowledge we get through Chali 2na’s lyrics and rhymes.”

This is the 2nd time that Chali 2na has connected with Slightly Stoopid on a track. The last time was on the song “Just Thinking” from Stoopid’s 2012 release of Top of the World. 2na is also a regular live guest appearance with the band. 2na’s connection to Stoopid stems from his past dealings with Silverback Management when they managed Long Beach Dub Allstars. 2na guest appeared on Dub Allstars 2001 album release of Wonders of the World where he flowed on the song “Life Goes On.”

Additional guest appearances to Everyday Life, Everday People include Alborosie, Ali Campbell (of UB40), Don Carlos, Yellowman, Sly Dunbar (of Sly & Robbie), and G. Love. Slightly Stoopid teamed up with multiple producers, including: Miguel Happoldt, James Wisner, Jerry Wonda, Colin York, and George Spits.

Everyday Life, Everyday People will be Stoopid’s first record in 3 years as we’ll most likely get to hear a lot of the new songs being performed live on their Schools Out For Summer Tour with Stick Figure and Pepper. You can pre-order the new record by clicking HERE!
